Khao No rises as a limestone mountain along Highway No.1 in Ban Dan Subdistrict, with a temple called Wat Khao No at the foothill and stairs leading up to the summit for a great view. At the entrance of a cave before the staircase lies a giant reclining Buddha image. During King Rama V official visit along the Ping River, His Majesty stayed here and had bestowed Luang Pho Yaem with tiffin carrier, lantern, kettle set, and wooden chest. In addition, King Rama V gave a wooden arm with the inscription “Battle 5” and a brass plate sealed with Royal symbol. There is also the pool in which His Majesty took a bath in during his visit and is now called “Sa Sadet”. Later, the province constructed the statue of King Rama V as a memorial of his visit. At the foothills, there are lots of monkeys waiting for feed from visitors. There are many caves around the area, which are habitat of bats. In the evening, a colony of bats fly out of the cave, making a long black line in the sky. Khao Kaeo is in the vicinity and with bats flying out of the cave as well.
