Pai Canyon, Pai

Overview

One of the highlights of the area around Pai is Pai Canyon, also known as Kong Lan in Thai language. This stunning canyon may not be large in size, but the views from the narrow trails are truly exceptional. And, the sunset views are not to be missed.

But, be warned – the height and lack of railings may give some visitors sweaty palms. The canyon is located on Highway 1095, just 5 miles south of Pai town in Mae Hong Son Province. The best way to get around to the many small sights and attractions in Pai is by renting a scooter or taking a songthaew.

Entrance to Pai Canyon is free, and cold drinks and snacks are available at the trailhead. The best time to visit the canyon is in the morning, and catching the sunset at the canyon is a popular activity. However, the canyon is not suitable for small children and travelers with a fear of heights should exercise caution. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to experience the natural beauty of Pai Canyon on your next trip to Northern Thailand.
