These are the latest official notice from the Department of Disease Control in Thailand.

And here is a notice clarifying the rules for insurance. Basically, you are required to have health insurance if your country of return requires a PCR test to enter.

Update 9th January 2023:

The health minister has just announced a complete U turn on the proof of vaccine requirements which began on the 9th January.

As of now, there are no health restrictions to enter Thailand and no proof of vaccine or covid test is required. There is still a requirement for health insurance if you are travelling back to a country that requires a PCR test for entry.

Update 7th January 2023:

Thailand has just recently announced a new round of entry restrictions which will start from 9th January at 1:00 a.m until 31 January at 4:59 p.m.

The new rules are as follows:

Passengers over 18 years old are required to present vaccination certificate or a letter from a doctor certifying that they have recovered from COVID-19 no longer than 6 months (180 days).
Passengers coming from countries with measures to prevent people infected with COVID from returning to the country must have health insurance covering COVID treatment throughout the duration of the trip in Thailand. Expats with Thai social security are exempt.
Passengers holding Thai passports are exempt from having documents checked for vaccination and health insurance.
Passengers who are in transit are exempt from checking vaccination documents and health insurance documents.
The airline must check the documents as mentioned. If the Passenger is unable to present these documents, the carrier must refuse the passenger to board.
Airlines must adhere to relevant requirements and follow guidelines as appropriate, such as asking passengers to wear masks throughout the journey. Except during the meal or in an emergency.
Passengers with symptoms of COVID-19 during the journey will be advised to undergo a test upon arrival at their destination.
Passengers who have not been vaccinated must have a letter from a doctor to show reason why they can’t be vaccinated.

There is no return of the Thailand Pass or the COE (Certificate of Entry) system. Visitors will not have to download any mobile apps at this point.

It’s unclear what will happen after 31st January 2023. As always, this is a fluid situation and we will monitor the situation and post updates as we receive them.

Yes. As of January 2023, Thailand is requiring proof of vaccination to enter Thailand.

Do I need a covid test to enter Thailand?

No, you do not need a covid test to enter Thailand. All covid entry requirements were dropped in October 2022 but new restrictions have recently just been announced for January 2023. A covid test is not part of the new requirements.
